If you’re asking yourself, is the dosh app legit? You’ve come to the right place.

In this review, I will share all of my research on this app and tell you if it is in fact safe, legit, and worth your time.

Let’s get started.

What Is The Dosh App?

Astute shoppers have switched from clipping coupons to Smartphone apps to save money. And one cashback application that is very popular right now is the Dosh App.

This platform offers users dollars back when they buy something at participating stores using a credit card. The same also works with debit cards. However, you have to select the “credit’ option when you check out.

Unlike other apps where you encounter problems when trying to get your cashback, most agree that Dosh is smooth and hassle free.

It sends money back automatically. There’s no receipt scanning necessary, no coupons, and no promo code needed. All you have to do is buy and get your money back.

How Does Dosh Work?

To start using Dosh, you can download it from the company’s website, Google Play, or Apple store. After that, you will need to link the app to your credit or debit card.

Once you have completed these two steps you can then start shopping at different participating outlets using your card as you earn points.

The points will be added to your app wallet automatically. And once your balance reaches $25, you can cash out through PayPal or direct deposit.

Dosh’s parent company has partnerships with various hotels, merchants, and stores to help users get money back every time they make a purchase (up to 10%).

Like many cashback applications, you also have to spend dollars to get some back. So basically, the more you shop in participating merchants, the more you will get back.

Dosh has bank-level security plus a 256-bit SSL Encryption. So as a user, you have strong protection from hacks or identity theft.

Also, your credit and bank data is never stored on the company’s servers. The company tokenizes all the relevant card data through Braintree (PayPal’s Server).

How To Join The Dosh App

Joining Dosh is free of charge. You can download the app on your mobile device in the App and Play store for both Android and iOS platforms.

Is The Dosh App Legit

All you have to do is link your debit or credit card, and you will be good to go. Also, you can receive a $5 sign up bonus when you download the application and link your credit card to the account for the first time.

As mentioned earlier, the minimum amount for withdrawals is $25.

There are hundreds of places to shop. Some of these include:

  • Retail stores
  • Online stores
  • Gas stations
  • Restaurants

These places make it easier to reach the $25 cash out mark.

Dosh App Competitors

As you probably know, the Dosh app is not the first cashback app. Search on Google for similar apps and you will find dozens of them.

However, how does the app compare to other apps in the market currently? Below are a couple of the most popular ones.

Rakuten (Formerly Ebates)

Rakuten is another cash back option, but the main focus is on online purchases.

This platform has partnered with different online retailers to earn money back and then shares the commission with you. It is similar to Dosh when it comes to things like having to upload receipts. You do not need to upload them with this platform either.

Where there is a big difference though, is that it can take up to 90 days for you to get your payout. At the time of this review, Rakuten pays out once per quarter.

Another option is Swagbucks. With this platform, the idea is you earn money back by watching videos and taking surveys online.

Each video or survey will allow you to make a specific amount of Swagbucks. And once you reach a particular amount, you can convert them to cash.

Where it gets a bit complicated with this app, is that you have to spend some time online for you to earn a considerable amount. This may not be ideal for people who don’t have a lot of free time on their hands to spend online.

The Dosh app, however, is straightforward to use. One aspect of the Dosh app is that it has partnered with a variety of different types of retailers.

This makes it easier to earn money regardless of where you are located. It is also passive when you set it up.

All you have to do is link your cards to the app, and you are good to go. Earn as you spend at associated businesses.

With Dosh you can earn more quickly than you can with competitors.

For instance, if you buy from a brewery that offers 5% cash back, and then combine that with card rewards that earn 2%, you will basically be earning a 7% discount on every purchase you make, without doing a thing.

Is The Dosh App Legit Or A Scam?

After combing through dozens of reviews and doing my own research, I can say that the Dosh app is legit and safe.

Though the app is not perfect (no app is), Dosh is a legit application and delivers on its promises.

Launched in 2016, by Ed Mock and Ryan Wuerch, the service has paid out more than $25 million to over 3 million users.

Is The Dosh App Safe?

As far as safety, your credit card data is not stored on Dosh’s site. The information is well tokenized and then vaulted through Braintree, one of PayPal’s most secure payment options.

All of the transactions that take place on the app are SSL encrypted. This means it is almost impossible for an unauthorized person to access the information.

Also, when it comes to participating merchants, the company has partnered with reputable merchants. From Hilton to Walmart, Nike, Fitbit, and Sam’s Club, you can be sure that you are dealing with a reliable partner.

Below is a list of the participating merchants, plus their credit rates. These rates are subject to adjustment anytime. So be sure to double check before making a purchase.

  • Walgreens: 6%
  • 5.2%
  • Sam’s Club: 5.2%
  • Nike: 4.5%
  • Home Depot: 3.8%
  • Staples: 3.8%
  • 3%
  • Drizly:11.2%
  • PetSmart: 4.5%
  • Dunkin’ Donuts: 3.8%
  • Thrifty Rent-A-Car: 0.8%
  • Jiffy Lube: 10%
  • Marriott Hotels: $18
  • Hilton Garden Inn: $18
  • Hyatt Regency: $15

Better Business Bureau

Dosh has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau since November 2017. The A+ rating means Dosh meets the agency’s standards and regulations.

Pros and Cons of The Dosh App

  • No action is required on your part. Because your debit or credit card is already linked to your Dosh account, you don’t need to do anything else to earn points. All you have to do is buy and watch your points add up.
  • You can purchase online or in-store. Whether you make your purchase online or in-store, you will still get your money back. As a user-friendly app, it allows you to scroll down and see which restaurants and stores are nearby and how much you will get when you shop at either. For example, if you want some fries and there are more than 4 different restaurants within your current location, the money you get back can help you determine which one to go to.
  • Not all restaurants and stores offer bonuses. For example, Wendy’s doesn’t have any reward program, but if you buy something from there, you will get some cash back.
  • Dosh offers more than one way to get money back. For example, if you are purchasing from a shop that has a loyalty program, you can use your loyalty card to earn some points. At the same time, you will use your credit card to accrue some money back on your card. Similarly, if you are using the Dosh app, you will get some Dosh points when you use your credit card to pay.
  • Get actual cash back. Unlike other apps that only offer gift cards, Dosh offers real cashback. The moment you reach the $25 mark, you get money back through a bank account or PayPal.
  • Rewards are given quickly. You will get your reward within 30 minutes of making your purchase.
  • Different types of retailers. Dosh has partnered with both local and national retailers, which gives you more chances to get money back.

  • You can only link one card. Each Dosh account can only be linked to one person. For instance, if you have a joint credit card with your spouse, only one of you will be able to link the card to the app. The only way of going around this is for you to connect using different cards.
  • If you have linked your credit card to a similar app, you won’t be able to connect to Dosh. You will be forced to de-link the other card or choose another card to link.

How To Make Money With Dosh App

There are various ways of earning money with the app. Below are a few.

1) In-Store Shopping

You can make money (up to 10%) by merely dining or shopping at participating businesses.

2) Online shopping

If you do a lot of your shopping online, Dosh is ideal for you. There are hundreds of offers and deals with brands like Nike, Walmart, and Target.

3) Get cashback on hotels

Do you travel a lot? Then you could be making a considerable amount just by booking your hotel with a card linked to the app! Also, you will get $25 for booking your first hotel stay via Dosh.

4) Get $5 for linking your card

You will not only get $5 for linking your first card, but also earn $1 for every additional card you link.

5) Refer a friend

Dosh also allows you to refer your friends and earn. There is a referral link that you can share with family or friends via social media, text messages, and emails.

Currently at the time of this review, you can make up to $10 for every new user that downloads the app through your link and links it to their debit or credit card.

6) Refer a business

If any business signs up with Dosh using your link, you could earn up to 20% of the fees that Dosh charges the business. However, you will have to agree to some conditions and terms to become eligible for this option.

So the question is, should you get the Dosh app? I think Dosh is a solid app and it doesn’t hurt to earn some money when shopping.

In fact, it is even better if you live in a well-populated area with different businesses that participate in the program. Also, if you like traveling, many amazing deals can help you save a lot.

You also don’t have to do anything aside from linking your card to earn. This is one of the main advantages of this app compared to similar apps.

It is a reputable platform that offers long-term benefits to both frequent and regular shoppers. I say it’s worth a try.
