Is Shipt legit and worth it? That’s the question.

In this day and age of so many sharing economy opportunities promising ways to earn extra income, it can be hard to keep up.

In this review, I’ll share everything that I’ve learned about this platform in this comprehensive article.

Let’s get into it.

What is Shipt?

Shipt is an on-demand grocery delivery service company that is owned by Target. The company is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama.

Shipt was acquired by Target in 2017 for around $550 million. It is now operating as an independent subsidiary of Target.

As of today, Shipt is in the business of delivering groceries, select electronics and home products. The company was founded by Bill Smith.

The company was soft launched in the November of 2014, in Birmingham, Alabama. It had around 1,000 pre-enrolled customers and the official launch took place on May, 2015.

The company grew quite rapidly and by 2016 the services were available in 9 states across 27 metropolitan areas in the US. Seeing its growth, the company received investment to the tune of $20 million from famous names.

This has helped with the company’s growth and as 2018, the revenue of the company is around $1 billion USD.

Shipt is available in 47 different markets spread across the US.

How Does Shipt Work?

The Shipt platform helps to facilitate same day delivery to various members of their organization.

This is done through its various retail branches and networks. The company is connected with many big retailers across the country.

They also use modern technologies to make this possible including a smart phone app and other modern solutions. The foundation of their business model is their efficient management of logistics to process same day deliveries for customers.

Working for Shipt as a Shopper

As a shopper you are allowed to put yourself in a shopping schedule. You are allowed to do it five days in advance.

When you put yourself in advance you will be eligible for shopping orders that come from your area.

The members can restrict their shopping to a specific zone that could be a few miles away and having only a single shopper. On the other hand, you also can choose to shop with multiple areas and shoppers.

Once you are a part of the weekly schedule, you will be able to have a look at the various shopping orders that come through.

You also will be able to see the size of the order, the final destination, the store where you will be able to shop and much more.

It’s not mandatory that you accept every order that comes through in your zone.

NOTE: However, you must ensure that you limit the number of rejections of shopping in your list to as few as possible. Too many rejections could lead to cancellation of your contract with Shipt.

Accepting Orders

When you decide to accept an order, you have to go the grocery store. Once there you can select the items from the store, pay for it using the app, and then deliver the goods to the customers.

You are allowed to shop multiple orders at one time.

The Shipt App

This entire business is run by a state of the art mobile app.

It allows shoppers to have complete control over the products they order, the day they would like to pick up the orders, the quantity, the price, and the stores to pick up the groceries from.

After you have been approved, you can download the app in the Apple App store or Google Play store for your mobile devices on both IOS and Android platforms.

  2. Now–April 24, 2020–SCAM: Like donna and betty, I’ve had a seriously bad experience You’re out of groceries. You’re at high risk for COVID-19. Regular delivery services have no availability. You find Shipt–next day delivery. Looks good. Hah. So you take 30 min to choose your family’s groceries. So far so good. Then chec-out: membership REQUIRED!! $14/mo or $99/yr. Curse and choose month. Start payment: $99 membership charged. Choose “Revise membership.” No. Monthly option not allowed. So now you’ve paid $99 plus “service fee” for your groceries. (BTW: the website is forcing all caps tonight. so sorry!)
