Is Opinion Outpost legit or a scam? That’s the question.

I came across Opinion Outpost while doing my due diligence for another survey site. I figured I’d do a review on it here, in case you’re also wondering if this site is worth your time.

I’ve personally tested dozens of survey sites to see if they’re the real deal.

In this review, I will let you know a few key takeaways, so hopefully I can save you from a let down.

Let’s get into it.

What is Opinion Outpost?

Opinion Outpost was founded in 2005. Its parent company has been trading for over 40 years in the same field.

Opinion Outpost offers its users the opportunity to earn rewards for taking surveys. When members take surveys they are rewarded with points.

The number of points earned are based on the difficulty of the survey you take. And the time it should take to complete it.

How Does Opinion Outpost Work?

Once you have joined Opinion Outpost, you’ll be given the standard sign-up survey. You’ll also start receiving emails that will invite you to take surveys.

This standard sign up survey will ask a number of questions that attempt to learn more about you. Questions about your education level, and interests.

These questions are not just pointless questions. They’re used to help find the right type of people to take particular surveys.

For example, a brand may have asked Opinion Outpost to survey graduates. In this case, Opinion Outpost would provide their clients this data on users who are graduates.

With this platform you will have an opportunity to take surveys about:

  • electronics
  • medicine
  • politics
  • sports
  • advertisements
  • appliances
  • possibly your last dinner or meal

If you lie then you are placing the reputation of Opinion Outpost at risk and they will simply ban you.

The survey invitations will be delivered at random times during the day. So you need to keep an eye on your email.

Once they receive the number of survey-takers they need, the invite is closed and you will have missed an earning opportunity.

For each survey you take, you will be rewarded with points. When points are accrued to the value of $10, the points can be cashed out on PayPal or with Amazon gift cards.

How to Join Opinion Outpost?

Opinion Outpost is free to join. To get started with the platform, simply visit the Opinion Outpost website to sign up.

Is Opinion Outpost Legit

Joining Opinion Outpost is a simple two-step process.

1) Complete the application.

First, you complete a simple application process that asks for your Name, Email Address, and Gender.

Once that is completed you will need to check your email to look for an invite that will have been sent to you.

2) Confirm your email address.

The second part of the signup process is clicking on the link in your email to confirm your email address.

This will take you to a survey, which asks you more questions about you. Try to complete the initial survey as accurately as you can.

If you provide false information here, it can get your account banned and your earnings will be kept by the company.

Is there an App?

There isn’t an App for Opinion Outpost. However, the website is designed to work well on phones and tablets. So it is still possible to earn money in your spare time on your mobile devices.

How To Make Money With Opinion Outpost

If you are seeking to earn lots of money working from home, then you’ll probably find it to be very challenging to earn a lot of money with Opinion Outpost. I think the same can be said for most survey sites.

While some survey sites pay more and are more well known such as Survey Junkie and Swagbucks, these types of sites are notorious for small earnings.

Having said that, Opinion Outpost seems to offer earnings potential that is equal to most of the similar survey sites. Some people have claimed to have reached the payment threshold ($10 in the US) in one or two days.

But these results are not typical.

Earnings Per Survey

Because users are not invited to take part in every survey, it is tough to say how many survey invites you will receive. Most surveys take about 10 minutes to complete.

On average, most users earn around $1.50 per hour taking these surveys. Although it is unlikely you will receive enough surveys to make more money.

It is probably a good idea to sign up for more than one survey company if you want to generate more income.

Point Values

The emails you receive from Opinion Outpost will give you an estimated time to complete the survey and the points value. Points will range from 5 to 30 points per survey.

Sweepstakes

In addition to the paid surveys, they will also offer you surveys that do not carry a points value. But instead award you a free ticket into their sweepstakes, which pays out $10,000 prize.

The number of entries in these sweepstakes are huge and your chances of winning are very slim. Statistics show you are better off concentrating on paid surveys.

Referrals

Another way to earn some extra income with Opinion Outpost is to refer others to the site.

For every referral that you bring in you will receive a 50 cents bonus from the company with the max referral earnings you can receive being $5. This is the equivalent of 5 points ($5).

Is Opinion Outpost Legit or a Scam?

Opinion Outpost is owned and operated by Survey Sampling International, LLC. The company is now called Dynadata and is based in California.

The parent company Survey Sampling International, is not accredited with the the Better Business Bureau. At the time of this review, the company has an F rating, which is the lowest rating.

One of the biggest complaints about the site is the suspending of accounts. For members in this situation, they lose all of their earnings.

Members have earned money with the platform. But it’s concerning that people are losing their earnings for no apparent reason.

Pros and Cons of Opinion Outpost

Pros

  1. Free to join and start earning with the site.
  2. It is easy work completing surveys for rewards and most surveys are only 10 minutes long.
  3. Most surveys are not very time consuming and points can accumulate quickly if you’re getting survey invites.
  4. This site has been around for a long time and is one of the more well known survey sites.

Cons

  1. Membership is only open to residents of the US.
  2. You can’t select surveys and have to wait to be notified via email of surveys that you are available to you.
  3. Low earnings for surveys at around $1.50 per hour on average.
  4. The parent company has an F rating with the BBB.
  5. Members have said that their accounts were suspended and terminating for no real reason, without allowing users to cash out. This is the biggest complaint from users.

Conclusion

There’s no shortage of survey sites online. Of the more well known ones, Opinion Outpost has been around for a while.

I’m not comfortable personally using the site because of a common theme that I’ve noticed in reviewing the site. That is the suspension of accounts and loss of earnings on the platform.

For that reason, I’d say join at your own risk. There’s nothing worse than putting time and energy into a site only to lose your account for no reason.
